| Romantic Listed Cottage - Merrydale West Yorkshire
Tyas Cottage is 5 star graded. It is located, along with 2 other properties in a very secluded, rural beauty spot (Merrydale). This is where the first water powered mill in the Colne Valley was located (built during the 1600's) and the millponds are near by. Merrydale is a SSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest because of its flora and fauna), and in a Special Landscape Area. It is near Marsden Moors (National Trust), canal and Standedge Tunnel, so ideal for walking the Pennine Way.
The listed, stone cottage is furnished mainly with antiques and has an upstairs living room that opens onto a balcony. This has steps down to the private barbecue area. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the shared prize-winning garden that includes a mill pond, waterfall and stream (in magazine "20 Beautiful Gardens").
The holiday cottage is fully equipped. It has 3 bedrooms, a spacious living room, dining/hall, and kitchen area. There is broadband access for your own laptop and satellite TV. Its antique furniture includes a Georgian mahogany 4 poster bed with a carved ceiling. On the ground floor, as well as a farmhouse kitchen and hall, the cottage has a twin-bedded room, shower room/W.C. and a spiral staircase to first floor (with add-on safety gate). Relax in the lovely spacious beamed first floor sitting room with its wood-burner. Other bedrooms are the double bedroom with a 4' 9" four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom/W.C and the twin-bedded room also with an en-suite bathroom/W.C.
There is a pub/restaurant a short walk away on the pack horse route through the 'free-to-roam' woods. Although rural and ideal for a walking holiday, it is within 25 miles of Leeds, Manchester, Halifax and Bradford, so plenty of attractions nearby for all the family to enjoy. |
