Luxurious 18th century Restored Villa

Villa Diana is like a small bit of paradise with its amazing pool. It is very private being Immersed in its completely secluded one acre landscaped garden surrounded by 3m high walls which is surrounded by its own almond & fig grove of six acres fenced off from the road by a high dry-stone wall & electric gates. A 200m tree-lined private driveway leads to a further set of electric gates into the villa's walled garden. This 300 yr old stone farmhouse lovingly restored & modernised with high quality fixtures & fittings, video entry system, security system, bug nets & window shutters for those all important lie-ins. Large open-plan kitchen-diner, comfortable lounge, separate TV room.Original stone features have been retained.

Walled garden : Within the walled garden there is a stunning 15 x 7 m swimming pool with 'wet' bar & spa/paddling pool. There is a slide into 2 m deep end. There are two further sets of tables & chairs for seating under the covered terraces around the villa, or in the garden. Steps down over the rockery lead to a large lawn and outside covered gym area. From here a vine covered pergola leads to the Italianate garden with well-stocked fish pond, where one can walk amongst the many flowers and trees. The garden & land has many fig trees: Theres nothing nicer than picking fresh figs for breakfast!

History & Restoration: The farmhouse belonged to a friend of mine. It had been in her family since being built over 300 years ago. Rarely do properties of this type come onto the market & it had laid empty for twelve years since her mother died. I persuaded her to sell it to me promising I would restore it to its original beauty & beyond. Originally built as a farmhouse - my friends family used it as a holiday home as her mother's family owned more than 11 houses & many acres of land in San Vito. It has a lamia which is now the lounge, all the original door & window openings have been kept. The Kitchen-diner was originally two rooms which we knocked into one. The TV room was her uncle's quarters with a small kitchen & WC off. The villa's stone floor was laid on earth which was removed and is now the floor on which the pergola outside stands.The current floor is Ostuni stone. The property has been completely renovated to a very high standard & was filmed by Grand Designs - Trade Secrets.

The Antica Posta of Vallelunga country-house is located in the heart of the Umbrian countryside, 15 minutes from Perugia, in a proximity of a provincial road that permit to reach all tuscan and umbrian cities.

What characterises the Antica Posta of Vallelunga, apart from the nature and the green that colours the entire valley, is without doubt the elegance of its furnishings, the refinement and taste for the antique which the owners have put into the restoration of the country-house and its furnishing, otherwise the dimension of the apartments, from 44sqm for the apartment for 2 until the 241sqm the apartment for 8. Each house, that can be considerated a realy apartment with big spaces, is completely independent and offer all that a family might need. Some have also fireplace.

THE HOUSES

The houses are distributed between 2 outbuildings and the main Villa.
The main Villa is composed on the ground floor of a Casa grande of 241 square metres (8 pax) with a 50 sqm. porch, and on the first floor of 3 apartments: the Castagno (3 pax), with a private terrace, the Melograno (4 pax) and the Uva(2 pax).

The Casa grande (241 sqm 8 pax) presents an elegant entranceway, a large kitchen with all of the modern conveniences (electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster etc.) as well as a fireplace and a 75 sqm living room with a fireplace, dining room and study with double sofa bed. The sleeping area is made up of 2 double bedroom and 1 twin bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and bathtub, and another bathroom with shower. The Casa grande has also a porch big more than 50sqm. where the people can eat all together looking the swimming pool.

In the Castagno (67sqm 3 pax)we enter a large warm living room with a sofabed and with a kitchen equipped with electric oven, refrigerator and dishwasher. The sleeping area includes a bathroom with shower, a large double bedroom and a private terrace that looks onto the garden.

The Melograno (74sqm 4 pax), the largest of the three apartments on the first floor, is composed of a living room with kitchen equipped with electric oven, dishwasher and refrigerator, and a large loft with sofa bed where one can relax with a book or watch television. In the sleeping area we find a single bedroom, a large double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
This apartment has in common with the Uva the terrace of the hall of the big fireplace.

The last apartment in the main unit, the Uva (48sqm 2 pax), is composed of a living room, a kitchen with an electric oven, fridge, freezer and toater, a big double room with a small loft and a bathroom with shower. This apartment has in common with the Melograno the terrace of the hall of the big fireplace.

The first floor of the main complex offers a common hall featuring a large fireplace, original of the ancient structure, where guests can linger to read or talk together, or enjoy the sun on the terrace accessed from this room.

The first outbuilding is the Girasole (89sqm 6 pax), a structure that can also meet the needs of disabled people, made up of two large rooms, a twin and double, two bathrooms (of which one for the disabled), a large living room with double sofa bed, fireplace and a kitchen equipped with electric oven, refrigerator and dishwasher.
This apartment has an exclusive terrace.

The second outbuilding is comprised of two apartments: the Melo (57sqm 3 pax) and the Fior di Pesco (44sqm 2 pax). Both the apartment, that can be linked, have a trellis terrace beside the garden where in the summer is possible to eat.

The Local Area

The center apartments are situated 3 and 5 blocks south of Downtown Santiago and Santa Lucia and 3 blocks from Providencia. Carmen Boulevard 1 and 2 are in the same building 1 floor apart and Carmen is 100m away, For bigger groups is all very close and all apartments have local telephone so you can keep in contact. Around the apartments within 2 blocks are different take aways, restaurants of which the main one is Adobes de Argomedes with dance show and traditional food, supermarkets, mini markets, bakery and coffee shops. All close for you convinience. There are pin machines 2 blocks away.

Downtown with museums, Mercado central, La Moneda and Plaza de Armas are a short walk away. So is Providencia where you can walk to Bella Vista with its restaurants and Cerro San Cristobal. 3 Blocks away is metro Santa Lucia, the metro system is world class and will bring you very fast o Las Condes or other area's of Santiago. Los Dominicos, or the vine yards are short journeys away with the metro.The apartments are very well located to explore Santiago.

In Santiago

Santiago has a very nice climate, like California or Spain, sp outdoor living is very normal here. Everywhere you are you will see the mountains like a wall beside you.. The Alameda Libertador Bernardo O' Higgens which is a broad avenue which enters the city center from the west and goes to the east into Providencia. From there you can visit La Moneda where the government resides, Plaza de la Constitucion Plaza Bernardo O' Higgins and Santa Lucia. The apartments are situated close to Santa Lucia Hill where Pedro Valdivia first started Santiago which is a baroque maze of pathways, gardens fountains and squares. Parque Forestal is situated along the river Mapocho where you can walk and relax, and then have some nice fish or shellfish for lunch in the Mercado Central. On the other side of the Mapocho river you will find the Vega Central where all the fruit and vegetables are taken in from the farmers you can buy there yourself as well, Patronato for cheap clothes and Barrio Bella Vista where you can buy jewelery only made in Chile. A bit further on the red metro line is Estation central which is made by Eifel and if you go the other way to Los Dominicos you will find a hacienda type tourist place with beautiful little shops. Bit to the south you will find vine yards of which Cousino Macul is the oldest, all easely reached by metro. In the apartment is a booklet with a map and more information about museums, shopping, restaurants and other things you can do like going on top of Cerro San Cristobal with its incredible view over the city.

Around Santiago

The apartment is a very good place to do excursions around Santiago. The Maipo valley is very close to Santiago and there are lot of opportunities to swim, ride horses, picnic, hike, camp or cabin overnight and wild water rafting. There is also a variety of Chilean restaurants with traditional Chilean foods as empanadas and humitas. Around 25 km into the valley is the town of San Jose de Maipo, here starts the road up in the Andes where you can ski.

Another beautiful excursions is towards Los Andes and go right to Mendoza in Argentina, 5 hours driving will bring you there. The crossing of the Andes is Magic.

More south is Pomaire where you can see hand made pottery and other handy crafts and eat a traditional Chilean lunch. Just before this is Malloco a German enclave and further down the road is San Antonio with its fish market..

Down to the pacific are Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar with their beautiful beaches, perfect for a nice day out.

Parisians say “you’ll eat well in the Perigord”! This little corner of Southwest France is home to the black truffle, one of the most famous and expensive luxury foods of France. (Truffle Markets are open in Winter!) It is also the land of foie gras-- that typical French delicacy made from fattened goose or duck liver, along with other Canard specialty dishes. Our guests have often said that the best meal they ate in the Perigord was here, in Hautefort! The wine regions of Bergerac and Bordeaux are only 1-1.5 hr away!

Our cottage is very comfortable for up to 4 adults and 2 children. It is located in the peaceful setting in the small south Vendee hamlet. A rustic cottage fully restored to its original appearance, with exposed local stone walls, wooden beams and wooden floors, tiled ground floor. It is furnished with antique French country style furniture. It is comfortable and done with good taste.

The ground floor has a large living/room with a fireplace, a kitchen/dining room, bathroom and separate washroom, utility room, and one double bedroom with en suite shower room (bed 1.60 m wide). The upstairs has one double bedroom (bed 1.40 m wide) and one mezzanine bedroom (2 beds, each 1.20 m wide)

The facilities include 1 satellite TV with English, german, dutch, Spanish, Italian channels, 1 frenchTV, 1VCR, 2 DVD players, telephone, games, dvd and video cassettes, free wifi internet access by wifi. Fully fitted kitchen with all modern facilities, well equipped with crockery, cutlery and plenty of utensils, kettle, dishwasher, ceramic hobs, microwaves oven, full oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine.
For a restful and enjoyable stay, you find a private garden, a stone patio with garden furniture, a large outdoor dining area with a purpose built chimney-barbecue, a private garden. 4 mountain bicycles for adults and 3 mountain bicycles for children are available free of charge.
Bathroom towels, house linen, and bed linen is provided, the beds are made prior to arrival. A cot, highchair and baby bath can be provided on request. Heating in the winter is extra.

Location: The cottage is situated in the quiet and hilly village of Saint Michel le Cloucq, above Fontenay le Comte, in a peaceful street. The village is on the edge of the forest with many places for walking and cycling. Only 50 km from the renowned sailing part and beautiful city of La Rochelle and the beaches of the Atlantic. The islands of Ré, Aix or Oléron are just off the coast. Few kilometers away there is Le Marais Poitevin, also known as the Green Venice, with its green canals for idyllic boating and fishing. The river Vendee ideal for fishing is less than 5 km away. Approx an hour away is Futuroscope, the science and technology theme park near Poitiers The Puy du Fou historic theme park with its day attractions, the summer evening concerts and displays is within 60 km.

Nearby amenities include restaurants, bars, tobacconist, new stand and a church and the village centre, which are within walking distance. Fontenay le Comte is within 5 km, it has all the amenities and facilities and all things you can find in the large town.
