History & Restoration: The farmhouse belonged to a friend of mine. It had been in her family since being built over 300 years ago. Rarely do properties of this type come onto the market & it had laid empty for twelve years since her mother died. I persuaded her to sell it to me promising I would restore it to its original beauty & beyond. Originally built as a farmhouse - my friends family used it as a holiday home as her mother's family owned more than 11 houses & many acres of land in San Vito. It has a lamia which is now the lounge, all the original door & window openings have been kept. The Kitchen-diner was originally two rooms which we knocked into one. The TV room was her uncle's quarters with a small kitchen & WC off. The villa's stone floor was laid on earth which was removed and is now the floor on which the pergola outside stands. The current floor is Ostuni stone. The property has been completely renovated to a very high standard & was filmed by Grand Designs - Trade Secrets. |
